Postal Network

India Post is the largest postal network in the world, with 164999 Post Offices serving people across the country. Our goal is to connect every Indian, from big cities to the most remote villages.

To bring our services closer to everyone, we have focused on areas that need us most. Since “2017 to 2022” over 4,900 new Branch Post Offices have been opened in districts affected by Left Wing Extremism, covering states like Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.

During FY 2023-24, the Department of Posts opened more than 5,700 new post offices in unbanked villages. This move ensures that every village has access to banking facilities within 5 km, enabling access to savings, insurance, government schemes, and digital services.

For decades, India Post has connected people and empowered communities. We continue our mission to serve every citizen and make life easier and more connected.
